Craig Street Bridge
Client: Douglas CountySID #530 Project Size: 2-two lane, single span bridges Construction Cost: $1.35 million Project Duration: Construction completed on Read Street in 2007 and Craig Street in 2008
Results: Construction of the bridges, spanning the Papillion Creek, now provides access off of Wenninghoff Road into the Glenmoor subdivision along Read Street and into the Turnbridge subdivision along Craig Street. Pedestrian/bicycle crossings beneath each bridge added to the amenities.
Placement of roundabouts at each roadway intersection onto Wenninghoff Road resolved geometric, budgetary constraints and traffic-flow issues that E&A's design team faced in the positioning and layout of the bridges near each of the street intersections. Both bridges feature a 2-lane, 28-foot clear roadway with an attached 6-foot wide pedestrian walkway. Each bridge features simple-span prestressed I-girders with stub abutments and steel sheet pile wingwalls.
E&A's Project Scope: Provided bridge, hydraulic and roadway design services and construction administration and construction staking services for each bridge including: approach slabs, roadway sections, safety structures and, in the case of Craig Street, monument signage.
